«Swiss Crypto Marvels» is a limited NFT collection launched by Pro Senectute beider Basel in cooperation with Swiss influencers. For the design and technical implementation, Pro Senectute beider Basel was supported by Metyis Switzerland.

A Paper Wallet is a physical crypto wallet. The paper wallet is a secure way to store your NFT. Your digital wallet address is printed on high-quality paper, including your personal private key and Mnemonic.

The NFTs can only be purchased online via this page of Pro Senectute beider Basel from 10 October 2022 at 10 am by credit card. Your NFT will then be sent to you securely by post as a paper wallet.

Pro Senecutute beider Basel is aware of the negative environmental impact of blockchain applications and has taken two main actions to ensure that the NFT campaign «Swiss Crypto Marvels» can be carried out in a climate-neutral way:

1. We have chosen the Polygon blockchain that is considered one of the most environmentally friendly blockchains because it is based on the "proof of stake" principle. This means that transactions are not verified by energy-intensive computing power and thus, the energy consumption is significantly lower than for ”proof-of work” blockchains. According to Digiconomist, an organisation that exposes the unintended consequences of digital applications, the emissions of a single “proof-of-stake”-based blockchain transaction such as Polygon or Ethereum after its merge amount to 10 grams of CO2. This is equivalent to the carbon footprint of 22 VISA transactions or 2 hours of watching Youtube. Taking into account the required blockchain transactions for this NFT collection, this corresponds to the CO2 emissions that one average Swiss person produces in a little over one day. Therefore, by using the Polygon blockchain CO2 emissions are reduced by more than 99%.
2. To further reduce its environmental impact, Pro Senectute beider Basel is offsetting these emissions in cooperation with the renowned Swiss climate protection organisation myclimate so that the NFT campaign «Swiss Crypto Marvels» can be carried out in a climate-neutral way.

The «Swiss Crypto Marvels» are a co-creation: Influencer Marcus Händel @VisitSwitzerland made his pictures of wonderful Swiss landscapes available to the Metyis design team. The latter developed the idea of combining an image from nature with a dreamlike object that points to our digital future.

To create the «Swiss Crypto Marvels», the team at Metyis collected topographical data that was transferred to the digital world using terrain modelling tools. They then began to imagine a mystical narrative that opens up a dystopian space. With the collection, they want to expand the image of the landscape and stimulate the imagination of the viewer.

As a buyer, you don't know which one of the four different pictures is being purchased. All NFTs are raffled and with a bit of luck you could get the one you want. You can increase your chances by buying several NFTs. In doing so, you also support a good cause.

When the payment is triggered, the NFTs are reserved. If the maximum volume (4444 units) has already been reached at this point due to high demand, the amount will be refunded.

As soon as the payment process is completed via the payment function above, you will receive a confirmation email. After that, we will physically send your Paper Wallet to you at the address provided in the coming days.

Returns are not possible, but you can resell your NFT via popular platforms such as OpenSea.

For the NFT collection «Swiss Crypto Marvels», Pro Senectute beider Basel chose an inclusive method so that people who do not own crypto wallets or have experience in the NFT field or minting process can also participate in this innovative fundraising campaign. The printing of the paper wallets was done under the highest possible security conditions by a printing company that also prints lottery tickets and works with some of the largest Swiss companies and can therefore guarantee full confidentiality when printing the wallets. In addition, Pro Senectute beider Basel receives and sends the paper wallets in a randomised process and sets clear guidelines for packing and sending the paper wallets so that confidentiality can be guaranteed in all stages of the process.

No, this is not mandatory. You only need the PrivateKey and the Mnemonic if you want to sell your NFT on OpenSea, a common trading platform for NFTs. If you only want to check out your NFT, you only need your wallet address. For instructions on how to view your NFT once you have received the paper wallet, please scan the QR code on your Paper Wallet and follow the instructions. If you wish to physically exchange or trade your NFT in the traditional way, you should not scratch the scratch field.

No, not necessarily. You will receive a Paper Wallet and do not necessarily need a digital wallet. You can keep the Paper Wallet as a collector's item. If you would like to re-sell your NFT on, for example, OpenSea, we recommend that you import the Paper Wallet as a new account into your WalletApp. If you want to create your own collection of your «Swiss Crypto Marvels» in your digital wallet, it is possible to transfer the NFT to your Crypto Wallet.  Alternatively, you can physically exchange and trade your «Swiss Crypto Marvels» in the traditional way.

First, you need a crypto wallet. By far the most well-known and used provider is MetaMask. You can find a variety of other providers under this link. For a transfer within the Polygon Chain, you also need the cryptocurrency MATIC. You can obtain this currency from respective crypto brokers on the market. You can find more information about this directly through these providers. Please note that transaction fees may be incurred not only when transferring wallets, but also when purchasing MATIC.

1. First, go to the official MetaMask page and click on "Download". You will be redirected directly to the official Chrome Web Store and can now integrate the MetaMask Chrome Add-On into your browser by clicking on Add.
2. After you have added the wallet to your browser, you will automatically be redirected to the official introduction.
3. Click on "first steps" to integrate an existing wallet or create a new one. If you do not yet have a MATIC Wallet, you can create one via MetaMask. To do this, click on "create a wallet" and follow the steps.
4. You will be asked to create your own personal password to access your MetaMask Wallet. After you have set a new password, you must place a tick under the terms of use and click on "continue". In the following window you have the option to write down your personal secret backup key (Mnemonic). With this key you can restore your wallet. Note down the Mnemonic thoroughly and in the correct order. Keep it in a safe place, ideally on a piece of paper, and never give it to anyone. If you lose this key, it will no longer be possible to recover your wallet.
5. Once you have noted down the Mnemonic in the correct order, click on "continue". You can now use the MetaMask Wallet without any restrictions.

To do this, click on «Import Wallet» in MetaMask and agree to the important information with «I agree». In the following window, you can import your paper wallet using the Mnemonic. Enter the 12 words in the first field in the correct order. Then create a password to access the MetaMask Wallet. Now accept the terms of use and click on «import». Your personal wallet has been successfully imported and can be used without restrictions.

OpenSea automatically moves transferred NFTs to the Hidden tab in certain cases. In order to show the NFT in your collection in your OpenSea profile, please take the following steps:

1. Connect/Log in to your Wallet on OpenSea
2. Switch to "Profile" in the menu
3. Under your profile picture and username, please select "More".
4. Go to "Hidden"
5. Click on the three dots under your NFT and hit "Unhide".
6. Now your NFT is displayed in your collection

Entering an incorrect address can cause you to lose your NFT. You can avoid this possibility by using checksum addresses and entering the address directly from a wallet application such as MetaMask. Furthermore, transaction errors are possible and the transfer could not be completed. A common cause of this problem is insufficient funds in your wallet to pay the transaction fees. This problem can usually be solved in the latest generation of wallets by pre-calculating the transaction fees and buying the appropriate amount of MATIC.

Keep your private key safe. If you lose your private key, you will no longer be able to access the digital wallet.
